The Chamber organises Christmas lights throughout the Town with a "Switch-On" ceremony
opened by Father Christmas (last Saturday in November). On the subsequent
Gala Night (second Thursday after Lights "Switch-On" in December) the retailers don fancy
dress, run competitions and raffles and often offer refreshments
of a seasonal
variety to their visitors.
May Mediaeval Fayre
This event takes place on the Abbey Green on the
Sunday and Monday of the late May Bank Holiday. There are craft stalls,
entertainers of all types - jugglers, jesters, fire-eaters etc. There
is also maypole dancing by the Merry Maypolers, and on the Monday
there is a grand parade followed by the crowning of the May Queen
and dancing by the children from the local Junior School.
The 2007 Fayre was very wet but we would like to thank everyone who made the effort to come and take part. As usual the stalls were very good, especially some of the new people who took part, i.e. Hands on History and the 1066 Falconary.

Battle in Bloom

The

competitions. The Town has won many prizes over the last few years,
including first prize in the South-East in Bloom competition. www.beautifulbattle.org
Battle Farmers' Markets
These take place on the third Saturday of each month
on the Abbey Green and local producers provide a range of fresh
and organic local produce.
Contact Colin Smith on 01424 751575 for further information.
Battle Country Market
Battle Country Market is part of a national network
of local co-operatives run by shareholders. Country Markets sell
home-grown and home-made produce from the kitchen, garden and dairy
all of very high quality. Local produce is very often grown without
the use of chemicals. Battle Country Market also sells knitwear,
greeting cards and a range of other crafts. The Market is held every
Friday morning from 10 until 11.15 in the Battle Memorial Hall on
the High Street.
Other Events
There are many other events in the Town
which we try to support, such as Battle Bonfire Night and the
Vintage Car Show.
